How to recognize an organic wine
Certification and the label
The safest way to identify an organic wine is to look for the presence of official certifications.
In Europe, the “EU Organic” trademark is a distinctive sign that the wine conforms to the organic standards of the European Union. It provides a clear visual identity for organic products, facilitating their recognition by consumers and helping farmers to sell within Europe..
The products that bear this trademark must contain at least 95% of organic ingredients. Alongside the “EU Organic” trademark, the code number of the controlling body and the place of cultivation of the agricultural ingredients must be shown.
Why choose an organic wine
There are many advantages in opting for an organic wine, and these go well beyond the simple pleasure of its taste:
- Respect for the environment: organic viticulture protects biodiversity and contributes towards a healthier ecosystem. Organic farming practices improve the quality of the soil, conserving water and reducing pollution. Choosing organic wines also means advocating agricultural practices that are environment-friendly and favour long-term sustainability.
- Quality of the product: natural processes enhance the taste characteristics of the wine, because the grape varieties are grown in healthy soils that favour the development of distinctive aromas.
- Support for the vine-growers and social impact: by choosing organic wines, you support vine-growers who are committed to healthy and responsible farming practices, thus promoting wine culture that is more ethical and sustainable.
The b.io philosophy
The b.io project is based on two fundamental premises: sustainability and certification. Only through virtuous practices in the vineyard is it possible to obtain an excellent organic wine and it is only through the use of exclusively organic products that you can highlight the concept of terroir, emphasizing the natural characteristics of the grapes. b.io’s wines are certified in accordance with EU Regulation 848/2018 by CCPB.
All-round sustainability
La b.io’s mission is clear: to create a project in which people, the land and wine coexist in perfect harmony. In line with the approach of Terre Cevico, we are constantly involved in research and improvement towards a totally sustainable future. This commitment translates itself into concrete actions – from innovation in our packaging to guarantees for the consumer – aimed at contributing to a long-lasting equilibrium.
