Lambrusco

The Lambruscos (which include L. di Sorbara, L. grasparossa, L. Maestri, L. Marani, L. Montericco, L. oliva, L. salamino, L. viadanese, L. a foglia frastagliata) are one of the most important families of purple grapes grown in Italy. They are mainly grown in the Emilia-Romagna Region, where they are used to produce fresh, aromatic sparkling wines. It is a varietal characterized by good vigor and productivity with compact bunches that tend to ripen moderately to very late in the season. Common training methods for Lambruscos include the Casarsa, Double Curtain and Guyot, as well as the traditional Bellussi and semi Bellussi methods.
